Should You Take Your 35mm Slides To Walgreen's or
Affordable Scanning Services LLC?
Walgreen's is a good drug store and also an adequate place to get your photo prints made but Walgreen's is NOT a competent slide scanning operation. Besides doing a completely inadequate job of scanning slides, you have no guarantee that they are not farming out your slides to some third party, which could be located anywhere in the world, to do the work. They are merely taking your order. They are shipping your slides off to someone else to do the work. Among other things, this is not good because you lose possession of your family heirlooms completely. You have no idea where your slides are at or who is working on them.

Affordable Scanning Services took a very discolored slide and our experts were able to tweak the image and made it look pretty nice. We always look for pleasing color and usually we can make each scan look at least just a little bit better. We can do "magic" but not "miracles".
Not only did Walgreen's completely neglect any color corrections, you should notice that the Walgreen's scan is cropped down and you do not get the whole 127 slide.

Keep in mind that Walgreen's, Costco, Walmart and a multitude of other stores/companies that offer scanning services all send their (your) scanning projects to an aggregator who does all the work and sends it back to the original company or store. That is what "Costco" did in the past when they sent scanning projects to "YesVideo". In fact, the scans we got back from "Costco" have "YesVideo" for the name of the DVD RW disk.
And so I guess we can assume that when you see the images that are from Costco, YesVideo can also take credit for how the scans turned out. YesVideo has recently changed it's name to "Capture" and we think that you might still be able to expect the same results that we got from our "Costco" scans.
