Yes! We offer affordable
scanning for 3D Stereo slides for $1. We lead the way and set the
standard for all 3D Stereo Slide Conversions.
Because we cannot automate the 35mm 3D Stereo Slide scanning process, the charge is $1 per slide and no quantity discount. We think this is a fair price considering the time that is involved. We also enhance each scanned image at no extra charge. One side of the 3D Stereo slide is scanned and digitized. In this case we are mainly interested in the transfer of the slide to digital. We are not converting the stereo slide to digital stereo or to a 3D image. You are going to end up with an image that is approximately 2998 X 2598 ppi. Or, another way of looking at it would be, you will have an image that is 9.9" X 8.6" and 300
3D stereo slide to 3D digital image
If you want to go one step further on your 3D Stereo Slide Conversion, we can convert your 3D Stereo Slides to 3D digital images that can be viewed on your computer monitor with 3D Glasses and they can also be viewed on your TV set with 3D glasses.
Because of the higher resolution, the images are going to look better on a CRT computer monitor than if you watch them on a TV set. We recommend 1600 X 1200 setting for the computer monitor display. The distance you view from your TV will also make a difference.
When we can write to HD disks and view on an HD player on an HD TV at 1080p, that may make a difference. The anaglyph images we can manipulate to try to get the best 3D. In the case of the Row Interlaced and the Column Interlaced, we don't have any control over the 3D and are locked into whatever our program does for us in transferring to a 3D image.
This is specialty work and has a much higher cost because of all the extra work involved. The cost to transform one 3D stereo slide to 3D digital format is $40 each.
Stereo format for final output:
Anaglyph - Red/Cyan Color (Works with Red/Blue glasses also)
If you have personal 3D View-Master Reels that you would like to have scanned and digitized so that you can have the images on a disk that can play as a DVD slide show and also play as a PC slide show and store the images on the disk, then you have come to the right place. We have to stress that these have to be personal photos and not commercial disks. We will not be scanning any copyright protected films and most of the commercially produced reels are copyright protected. Personal reels are different and are obviously not copyright protected.
We do service customers outside of the USA. Special arrangements must be made for payment and shipping. Our 800 number does not service other countries. Please send email.
If someone has had a stereo or "3D" camera, you may have a collection of some older "3D" or stereo mounted slides. The mounts may be plastic, cardboard, or aluminum. The pictures of your wedding or other special events may be on this unique product. We do not remove the film or damage the 3D stereo film holder. These are specialty scans and the scanning process cannot be automated and have to be hand fed and necessarily are subject to a higher scanning charge.
This type of 35mm slide is intended to be looked at through a stereopticon or stereo type viewer or projected through a special 3D stereo slide projector and viewed with special, polarized 3D glasses. If you look at a stereo 3D slide through a special 3D viewer, Stereopticon or Stereo slide projector and you see a flat image, then somebody made the 3D slide incorrectly. A good 3D stereo slide will be able to view near, middle and distant objects in the viewer or projected when wearing special 3D glasses. Stereoscopy and 3D are different animals. Don't confuse perspective with 3D. Stereoscopy gives depth perception. The depth is only simulated. Real 3D requires at least two pictures which simulate the right and left eye.
The 3D or stereo slide can be converted to view as life-size, if you have a Large Screen TV. Digital images of these loved ones, relatives and friends can be viewed as if they were standing before you.
If you are going to have prints made from your 3d stereo slides, keep in mind that the finished image will be approximately 6" x 6.5" because of the size of the original film. If you are going to have a full sized print made, you will have to put them on an 8 x 10 sheet.

3D or Stereo Slide Equipment
(No we do NOT sell this equipment.)
When two slightly different images are seen through a stereo viewer or stereo projector, the two images are combined in the brain to give a perception of depth and 3D quality. Various devices have been created to view 3D or Stereo slides over the years. Below, we show some of those devices.
The stereo slide is inserted into the stereo 3D viewer and then, either the viewer has its own, self-contained light or you have to look through the viewer into a light.
In the case of a 3D stereo projector, the slide is inserted into the projector and the dual images are projected onto a screen. The person must use special, either polarized lenses or special red and green lens or red and blue lens glasses. One color for each eye.
Stereopticon
Dictionary definition:
A magic lantern, especially one with two projectors arranged so as to produce dissolving views.
